In our 10+ years in business, we’ve received a lot of different questions about our trade, and today we’re going to continue to answer some of those questions for you!
Question 1 – I just bought a house and I’m looking to secure my new property – can you guys help me with that?
First of all, congratulations! Buying a house is a huge undertaking in so many ways, but with us, making sure your home is secure doesn’t have to be!
The fact is, home’s not really home until you know who has the keys… The previous owner may have given keys to friends, family members, general contractors, electricians, neighbors, and more, meaning that all of those people – who you do not know and trust – have access to your new home. So how can we help with that? Great question, and the answer is a rekey. This is where we change the pins and tumblers inside of your current lock so that the old key no longer works, and then make a brand new key that now only you have.
Another great way to secure your new home is a smart lock. This is a lock that has some kind of alternate, electronic method of giving access to your home – be it a fingerprint scanner, an electronic keypad, or mobile phone app access, these locks bring you into the modern age of security and make sure that you have 24/7 monitoring of your home’s security wherever you are in the world.
Question 2 – Do you take cash? I don’t want my spouse to see on the credit card statement that I lost my keys again…
Haha… As long as you can prove by official documents (active driver’s license and registration/insurance/title/bill of sale) that it’s yours, we will happily take cash, card, or check. And we promise not to tell.
Question 3 – Can I just give you my VIN and then you can send me a key for my car?
This question’s a little trickier than it seems on the surface. The problem is, 99% of cars on the road today have an immobilizer system, and their keys have a transponder chip inside of them that has to be programmed directly to the car in order for it to start. In order to program these chips to the car, you need to actually be in the car and most times you have to use specialized transponder programmers as well. This means that we will need to be on scene with the car in order to get a working key.
However, we have a storefront location conveniently located on route 53 in Hanover right in the center of the South Shore where you can come and sit in our comfortable waiting room while we program a new key to your car right on scene. Don’t have any keys at all? No problem, we’ve got four trucks on the road and can come right to you if the car is unable to be driven, and all of this can be done without the horrendous dealership wait times and prices.
