In our 10+ years in business, we’ve received a lot of different questions about our trade, and today (and over the next few blogs) we’re going to answer some of those questions for you!
Locksmith Question 1 – I lost all my keys… Can you make me a car key even if I don’t have one?
We sure can! As a matter of fact, replacing lost car keys is our speciality. As long as you can prove that you are the registered owner of the vehicle (we will need to see an up-to-date driver’s license and vehicle registration, title, bill or sale, or current insurance paperwork that shows the car’s VIN and your name), we can come on scene – often the same day you called – and make you a brand new car key with all the same buttons and functions that you had before.
Locksmith Question 2 – I lost the keys to my Lamborghini just down the street… It’s not in my name or anything, but just trust me, it’s mine. Can you make me new keys?
Haha… As long as you can prove by official documents that it’s yours, I’d be more than happy to. But just a heads up, with the Lamborghini, there is a compulsory test drive that the locksmith has to do to make sure the keys are really functioning… Okay, I’m kidding about that. But if you want to let me test drive your Lambo while we make a new car key, make sure to ask that technician Josiah comes out.
Locksmith Question 3 – Can you make comfort access/smart/intelligent keys?
We sure can!
For those who don’t know, a smart key (also known as intelligent key or comfort access key) is a key that does not require you to stick anything in the ignition to start the car. You can simply have the key on your person, put your foot on the brake, and then push a button (or in some cases, turn a knob) and your car starts up. Many cars with these systems also have an unlocking feature where as long as your key is on your person when you approach, your car automatically unlocks as you pull the handle.
Now, back to the question… We can make keys or 99% of vehicles on the road today, including smart keys for vehicles like Audi, BMW, Land Rover, and Jaguar, as well as more common fare like Toyota, Ford, Honda, Kia, and more, and we can certainly make you a new smart key.
